Character randomly walks in different directions.

Many different times whilst playing games, whether they be my own or someone else, the character will occasionally, and randomly, walk in a direction without any input from me. I press no arrow keys, and yet they keep walking. Perhaps, maybe, it could be that I was going in a direction and then somehow clicked off the game because my trackpad is right in front of my keyboard. That would result in the character to keep going in a direction without me clicking any keys. I do not know.
