MATH PETA: Quadratic Equations Game Design
Storyline:
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Nethilor, a magical formula was stolen one night inside the Royal Alchemy. That formula was the key in creating both a machine and a potion that could help the poor city of Ebraxa and help the Ebraxans survive from an underground plague. No one knows why, when, and who may have been stolen it but unfortunately, the formula was now considered lost.
In order to retrieve it once again and to end the sufferings of the Ebraxans, King Percival of Nethilor secretlt proposed a nationwide search in the countries of Estoria, Kerymfia, and Peterdia for hidden talented mathematicians that could solve math problems needed for the machine and potion to work using the Lost Formula that they need to find a way to solve it. These math equations were secretly carried out by fairy messengers from the Royal Alchemy of Nethilor to 28 candidates around the continent.
Among these candidates was Arthur Emberspear, a simple villager and farmer in Kestramore and a hidden talented and gifted boy excelling in the field of numbers. He is also the son of the late former Alchemist of Nethilor, Dr. Garion Emberspear. But after his father died when he was only an infant, they went to exile Nethilor to live in a small village in Kestramore and became a low-class farmer.
Would the Kingdom of Nethilor once again find the lost formula? Would they know the culprit behind this? Would the city of Ebraxa end its long suffering? and most importantly, would Arthur Emberspear be the next Royal Mathematician of Nethilor and a hero to the Ebraxans?
Game Mechanics:
1. The player can move the main character, Arthur Emberspear, with ASWD keys of Up, Down, Right, Left keys and use SPACE to interact with the choices and conversation with the programmed characters in the game.
2. The objective of the game is to solve all the Quadratic Equations correctly through talking to fairies and side characters (side quests) in the game as much as possible for the player to progress to the next level and know the whole storyline while choosing the right choices, decisions, and answers.
3. But, the player must survive throughout the whole game. The player is given 150 maximum health bars that can be seen on the upper right corner of the game. You will encounter many monsters throughout the game that can damage your health by -10 to -30.
4. To attack and defeat the monsters, press SPACE or M key on your keyboard to activate your sword weapon.
5. If your health bar is already low, you can find hidden health potions in many places in the map that will increase your health by +50.
6. There are also hidden floating squares called 'Token' that will add up to a certain amount of experience once interacted by a player.
